The Province Bocce Club (pronounced "bah-chee) has around 85 members this year. If you like being outside then playing bocce is for you. The game is 90 percent social and 10 percent friendly competition. The beautiful part about bocce is that anyone can play and you do not have to be extremely athletic. Members of the Club play at various times depending on the season and weather (heat and available shade on the courts). We try to play at least 6x/week when possible. Of course, with 2 courts and 85 members, the need to share play time is essential. We would always welcome a third or fourth court, with one being more easily handicap accessible. Beginners are always welcome!
The object of game is to roll a 3-pound ball and try to get it as close as possible to the little white/yellow ball called the pallino. That’s when all the fun begins!
The biggest highlight of our club are the tournaments!! We try to have two major tournaments early in the year, with prizes available for first and second place winners. The plaque in the trophy case has recently been updated with the winners' names from this years' tournaments. We also have had friendly tournaments once or twice a month after that. We hope to extend those to October, November and December this fall. Annual dues are $15 per person and will be collected at Thirsty Thursday in November and at our annual meeting in January.
Mission Statement:
The Province Bocce Club is dedicated to promoting the game of bocce to all Association members in order to enhance their social and physical well being. The promotion of bocce will be done without regard to race, age, or ethnic background.
